Asynch Week

An event happened inside the Obrero campus which led us to have asynchronous classes for the whole week. Our instructor gave us 6 videos to watch, although, the last two video links were the same. It all talked about Knowledge Management, mainly, the definition and difference of data and information and how it is used for knowledge. The first video introduced how different disciplines differentiate the levels of understanding. Data, the lowest form, is like a raw material to be used for processing, the processed data is now converted into an information, the next level after data. While knowledge refers to a much deeper level of understanding which includes the experiences, insight, and intuition. The second video mainly talked about managing the knowledge from information and experiences and the different types of knowledge. It even includes questions like 'What is needed to know?' and 'What knowledge is more vital?'. The third video tackled about the importance of knowledge management, especially, in organizations. One of its example is when there is fire, one will not call a doctor but instead people will call the firefighters since the people knew that firefighters are more qualified to do the job than a doctor. The fourth video talked about how an organization can keep the stability and productivity. It is to allow different people with different expertise to share their knowledge with their workmates. Lastly, the fifth video share the same topic with the fourth video, it talked about the challenges of organizations to share critical knowledge to the employees and trainees.
